As a developing nation in the midst of Central America, the business atmosphere in Belize is progressive and strong. English speaking with strong ties to Great Britain and the United States, the country has blossomed in the last 3 decades. Formerly a true third world country with many primitive and backward ways, the country is very capitalistic today and has been successful in becoming a truly emerging nation over the last few decades.
The merchant center of Belize City has many viable businesses which import and distribute many modern products brought in from the U.S. and Europe. There are many capable service businesses to install and repair complicated equipment from air conditioning systems, to computer networks, to power generators, to marine operations, and heavy equipment. In short, there is plenty of fast access to the equipment needed for the proposed resort and adequate professionals to install, maintain, and service the equipment.
As for locally produced supplies, the country is strong on fruits & vegetables, meat & seafood, lumber, boat building, beer and soft drinks, textiles, and rice.
