By far the majority of first class overwater bungalow resorts in the Indian Ocean are found in the
Maldives with 26 such resorts with another new one being built by Mandarin Oriental. The Maldives
have the best settings with beautiful atolls and crystal clear tropical waters.
There are four such resorts in Malaysia ranging from ultra luxury on down to mediocre dive resorts.
Malaysia does have several places with tropical settings almost as good as the Maldives.
In Mauritius and Mozambique there are 2 such resorts, one in each country, and the underwater
bungalows are in very mediocre settings.
