This picture was taken several years ago when the resort was open, operating, and maintained well.
The resort has been closed for 5 years and has fallen into dis-repair, but can be revived fairly quickly because a lot of the foundation and infrastructure are still there and can be made serviceable.
Most importantly the AIRSTRIP is still maintained and operable today.
INFRASTRUCTURE includes: power system, water wells & pumps, fuel tanks, radio telephone, 2 docks, and a large maintenance building
BUILDINGS include: 5 bungalows, 3 two bedroom suites, bar/restaurant building, 2 staff quarters buildings, administration building — all have been maintained minimally since closing.
Why did the resort close?
With only 11 rooms for guests, the small economy of scale did not make it a very profitable venture even though the occupancy rate was very, very high due to the high desirability of the loacation and high quality of service. When the property first went under contract in 2005, the owners thought it was time to let the new owners make a new business plan and larger resort, so they saw the opportunity to shut down as desirable. Unfortunately, the buyer never raised the full amount of money to complete the transaction and so defaulted.
